Habitat for Humanity of Adams County Presents the 4th Annual "Shanty Town 2007" May 18th - 20th located at the Adams County Fair Grounds, Friendship, WI. Shanty Town is a community fundraiser to raise money in order to continue the mission of providing adequate, affordable housing for families in Adams County, WI. In this 3 day community event Habitat for Humanity is trying to raise awareness about homelessness in the area. The main focus of Shanty Town is to have community members construct shanties out of cardboard, string, scrap plastic, newspaper and tape only. There are 70 building sites available at $10 per site. Up to 4 people can reside on each lot and each participant must collect a minimum of $30 in pledges to stay overnight in the shanty. A $30 pledge will entitle the participants to a free Shanty Town tee shirt. Prizes, gift certificates, and all-day passes to Noah's Ark in Wisconsin Dells will be awarded to participants who collect $200 or more in pledges. This years goal is to reach $20,000... which we MUST REACH in order to complete our house for 2007!!!
