Monroe is located near Lake Petenwell and is home to Petenwell County Park in Adams County WI. The area known for it’s ATV routes, Snowmobile trails, thousands of acres of public land, Monroe Center, Monroe Township Park, and large amounts of public land. Monroe Township also has the infamous Van Kuren Trails and just about 1 mile of Dead Horse Creek run through it. Unlike many other Townships in Adams County, Monroe doesn't have any rock formations. But Lake Petenwell is 23,000 + acres and the County Park is on of the busiest in the whole State of Wisconsin. Monroe for the most part is an outdoor recreational township and is loaded with Wisconsin Wildlife including the national bird the Bald Eagles. Parks & Waysides - Petenwell County Park

Monroe Township Park.

Rock Formations - Monroe is one of the few townships that done not have any rock formations in Adams county.

Annual Events & Attractions -

Golden Eagle over Lake Petenwell in Monroe, Adams Cty, WI. Thing to See & Do - Van Kuren Trails, is located off of Chicago Ave right by the southeast end of Lake Petenwell and is open to the general public year road.

ATV Routes - Most of the roads in this township exepted for County Road C & Z are open to ATVing as long as you follow the rules and regulations of the routing system.

Snowmobile Trails - Just like the ATV routes, most of the roads in this township exepted for County Road C & Z are open to snowmobiling as long as you follow the rules and regulations of the routing system. Plus because farmers don't use there land during the winter months there is also plenty of snowmobile trails along the country side as well.

Public Land - There are 3 main sources for public land in Monroe Township, Wisconsin River Power Company Land who built both lake Petenwell & Castle Rock Lake back in the 1940's, Plum Creek Timber Company who owns thousands or acres throughout Adams County and finally Private Land Owners looking for takes breaks leave their land open to the public.

Wisconsin Wildlife - The photo to the right is of a giant Golden Eagle flying over Lake Petenwell in Monroe Township, WI. You can find plenty of Whitetail Deer, Eastern Wild Turkey, Red Fox and Bald Eagles as well.
