The township of Monroe is definitely a favorite of recreational enthusiasts in Adams county.  With  nearly 20 square miles of paper company land out your front door and 23,000 acres of water out the back you can't go wrong.  Hiking, biking, waterskiing and even cross country skiing are popular.  Lake Petenwell along the west edge of the county is large enough to support the largest pontoon boats and sailing regattas without getting crowded.  Lakes Arrowhead, Sherwood and Camelot to the north also offer excellent fishing and boating.  

Many of the roads in Monroe Center serve as routes that allow ATVs and snowmobiles on them.  The Monroe Prairie ATV club maintains the trails and signs along the routes.  They welcome new members so stop in and join the club.
